Lunch With A View
Click on photo for larger. That was my view the other day as I sat down to enjoy my falafel sandwich (extreme foreground) by the fountain of St Lorenz Church. Those are the spires of St. Sebaldus Church center-left, and the Kaiserburg (Nuremberg Castle) center-to-center-right. As far as the falafel goes, it's no L'As du Fallafel (heck, it's not even Fat Kitty Falafel-level good), but tasty and cheap nonetheless-- lately, I've been averaging a visit there every other week, and they know me by sight now-- I'm the guy who asks for it sehr scharf (very spicy), somewhat of an anomaly around here. As you can see, the streetside views are pretty good too.

Best falafel of my life at Hummous Bar in Budapest (a bit more here) — partially because of the skhug they served with it. But despite the awesomeness of that hummous, you gotta hand it to our local falafel joint in Regensburg.
Come visit it with us — perhaps in combination with a trip to our upcoming Maidult or something...
A return to Regensburg is definitely on the docket-- hey, don't you guys have a good Lebanese restaurant there too-- or is it the same place as the falafel joint?
Budapest was a revelation to us, but the meals without fail were a total letdown. We only -just- found out about Budapest's Jewish quarter (from Andrew Zimmern's program of all things), and if/when we go back there, you can bet that's where we'll be having most of our meals.
The falafel joint is not the same as the Kurdish joint Mesopotamia, which is the successor of Exil, chef-wise. Local Lebanese still eludes me, alas.
